Jewelry of Aswan

This initiative trained and qualified 180 artisans in jewelry-making and beadwork crafts. The project focused on:

- Building the capacity of local trainers and community-based organizations.
- Creating employment opportunities or revenue generation for artisans and their families.
- Preserving Aswan’s heritage, particularly in beading craftsmanship, a centuries-old tradition deeply rooted in the region’s culture.

Project Donors

Sawiris Foundation for Social Development (SFSD)

Established in 2001 with an endowment from the Sawiris Family, SFSD is one of Egypt’s first national donor foundations. It addresses key issues such as poverty, unemployment, healthcare, and access to quality education. Over the past 18 years, SFSD has:

- Funded and delivered sustainable development programs in collaboration with government, private sector, and civil society.
- Created thousands of job opportunities and improved access to education and basic services for over 280,000 beneficiaries.
- Operated in 24 governorates, focusing on the most marginalized villages.

ALEXBANK

Established in 1957, ALEXBANK is one of Egypt’s leading private sector banks, operating under the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) and Monetary Law No. 194/2020. Since 2007, it has been a subsidiary of Intesa Sanpaolo Group, which holds 80% of its shares (as of 2020).

With 175 branches across Egypt, ALEXBANK plays a key role in:

Al-Jisr Foundation

Al-Jisr Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering communities through education, skill development, and economic opportunities. It focuses on enhancing entrepreneurship, vocational training, and employment for marginalized groups, with a particular emphasis on women and youth. The foundation collaborates with government entities and private sector partners to implement sustainable development initiatives.

National Council
